Substance Over Style

Unselfish isn't cool in the times which we live,
And few have ever heard of modesty,
We hardly ever notice those who quietly give,
Among the masses who are screaming look at me,

Most players want to make an electrifying stuff,
For the chance to be on ESPN,
But there's a team in San Antonio that does just enough,
To consistently pull off another win,

I know style over substance seems a little bit more fun,
But the Spurs are going for one for the thumb,
There's no Kobe, Lebron, or full body tattoos,
It's just a bunch of players who don't like to lose,
So maybe substance over style should be recognized,
As a viable alternative to me first guys,
Just in case you haven't noticed they've been winning for a while,
And they're doing it the boring way with substance over style,

Tim Duncan has been leading them with quiet confidence,
That doesn't involve beating on his chest,
Some would say that he needs to look a little more intense,
But the Spurs keep on beating up the west,

From Popovich to Parker and Ginobili on the floor,
Right on down the bench to Big Shot Rob,
Some would say that San Antonio's a ratings killing bore,
But they're just a bunch of guys who do their job,
