Where Memories Can Happen

It was Stevie Wonder on the radio and Indiana Jones on at the movie show,
And "Where's the Beef" was the question of the year,
When the Celtics Lakers rivalry was renewed on CBS TV,
As the Boston fans said "Beat LA" right here,

The series altered in game 4 when McHale took Rambis to the floor,
Dunks and layups never came with ease,
The Forum crowd was looking fine and loving watching their Showtime,
While the Garden boiled at 98 degrees,

I remember watching Magic Johnson, Worthy, and Kareem,
Playing Larry Bird, the Chief, and McHale, man, what a team,
From coast to coast you heard the country standing up and clapping,
It was the old days in the NBA where memories can happen,

Wrestlemania had Mr. T while Aha was singing "Take On Me",
As the movies showed Biff picking on McFly,
With Boston trying to repeat and the Lakers wanting to defeat,
The Celtics in the finals the first time,

Boston got out of the gate and it looked like things were going great,
In a game one massacre by 34,
But Kareem Abdul Jabbar took charge, like an MVP he came up large,
As the Lakers won and evened up the score,

I remember watching Magic Johnson, Worthy, and Kareem,
Playing Larry Bird, the Chief, and McHale, man, what a team,
From coast to coast you heard the country standing up and clapping,
It was the old days in the NBA where memories can happen,

We watched Good Morning Vietnam while "Rick Roll" Astley was the bomb,
As we learned about a girl named Donna Rice,
When the Celtics and the Lakers met in a rubber match we won't forget,
To see which team would end up winning twice,

The champions would gain renown from Hollywood on to Beantown,
As the greatest of the 80's in the book,
That history was sure to write about Bird and Magic's final fight,
With a chapter about Magic's junior hook,

Now Kobe and Gasol can take on Pierce and KG,
In another Lakers Celtics series that I want to see,
From coast to coast you'll hear the country standing up and clapping,
Just like old days in the NBA where memories can happen,
They'll try to win Phil number 10 where memories can happen ...

Phil Is Your Father

There was a man - there was a man who once played for the Knicks,
His name was Phil and he was built much like a stick,
He had some skill so just like Wilt it was hard to abstain,
For very long so here's a song about one night in Spain,

Phil went abroad on a vacation in '79,
It was a year when his career was on the decline,
He met a fine Senorita who answered his call,
And it was there where he conceived Pau Gasol,

It's not like Opie is to Andy - more like Luke is to Vader,
Phil and Pau were reunited when his boy became a Laker,
Some ignore the close resemblance looking over the real story,
How a father and a son will return the Lakers glory,
So like Kobe is to Joe and like Luke is to Bill,
That's why Pau is so special to his coach slash Daddy Phil,
Now it's time to go on Maury - here's the reason they should bother,
Cause the DNA's been tested Pau and Phil is your father,

There was a man - there was a man who once coached for the Bulls,
While far away he had a son developing tools,
He had the seed and it would lead him to the NBA,
Where he would stay until he played for his father one day,

He had the build - he had the Zen - the beard and the hair,
He had the skill thanks to Phil and his one night affair,
He came to save L.A. from their injury,
They call him Pau - but now Phil can say little P,

It's not like Opie is to Andy - more like Luke is to Vader,
Phil and Pau were reunited when his boy became a Laker,
Some ignore the close resemblance looking over the real story,
How a father and a son will return the Lakers glory,
So like Kobe is to Joe and like Luke is to Bill,
That's why Pau is so special to his coach slash Daddy Phil,
Now it's time to go on Maury - here's the reason they should bother,
Cause the DNA's been tested Pau and Phil is your father ...

Laker For Life

For those who said Kobe was going to the Bulls,
I won't name names cause you look like fools,
Cause Chicago's hanging out right around last place,
While the Lakers are in the middle of the race,

I know trade requesters can't be choosers,
But why would Kobe want to play for losers,

Where there's no Pippen to his Jordan,
And there's no Jon to his Ponch,
There's no coach who worships Buddha,
There's no team quite as staunch,
He might have argued with the Lakers,
But he proved it with his wife,
He knows how to beg forgiveness,
So come on Kobe go ahead and tell the world,
That you're a Laker For Life,

Chicago's already one coach down,
And the Cubs are already the talk of the town,
While the Laker fans all now believe,
So why on earth would Kobe leave,

The East is weak but it won't be pretty,
If Kobe goes to the Windy City,

Where there's no Pippen to his Jordan,
There's no Oates to his Hall,
There's no one like Andrew Bynum,
To help Kobe out at all,
He might have argued with the Lakers,
But he proved it with his wife,
He knows how to beg forgiveness,
So come on Kobe go ahead and tell the world,
That you're a Laker For Life,
It doesn't matter if you're 8 or 24,
You're a Laker For Life ...

Don't Let Kobe Go

If Kobe leaves, it would be a shame,
Who's going to score his 30 points a game,
There's not a chance that Walton will,
Remember Dr. Buss, you've got Luke, not Bill,

Three years ago, the Lakers traded Shaq,
Pat Riley got the best of Kupchak,
But lose Kobe and you lose a lot of fans,
Cause it looks like you're working an Isiah Thomas plan,

Who's going to be the toast of Tinseltown?
Can you count on Andrew Bynum? Can you trust Kwame Brown?
I'll tell you Dr. Buss, the answer is no,
So come to your senses and please, Don't Let Kobe Go, Don't Let Kobe Go,

I thought of Kobe as a Laker for life,
So trading him would cut just like a knife,
Driven through the heart of every L.A. fan,
So find a way to keep him, please do anything you can,

Before you go on trading 24,
Know that Magic and Kareem are never walking through that door,
And the floor at Staples Center would soon be known,
As nothing but the beautiful L.A. Clippers home,

Who's going to be the toast of Tinseltown?
Can you count on Andrew Bynum? Can you trust Kwame Brown?
I'll tell you Dr. Buss, the answer is no,
So come to your senses and please, Don't Let Kobe Go,
As the season commences please, Don't Let Kobe Go,
Disregard the expenses and please, Don't Let Kobe Go, Don't Let Kobe Go ...
